The state of Delaware is located on America's East Coast and has a wonderful history to explore and learn about. Travelers heading to Delaware can take advantage of the beautiful natural attractions, the interesting historical sites, and the fun tourist attractions there. Here is a look at just three of the great things to do for those traveling to or through the great state of Delaware.
Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk
The Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk is a popular attraction in Delaware, and for very good reason. It offers a glimpse of the boardwalk vacation destinations that were very popular on America's East Coast years ago. The boardwalk stretches for more than a mile and is lined on one side with sandy beach areas and on the other other with great shops and restaurants.
Kalmar Nyckel Foundation
In 1638, a ship filled with settlers from Sweden landed in what is now Delaware. The ship was the Kalmar Nyckel, and the Kalmar Nyckel Foundation have built a full size recreation of the ship and it stands today a great reminder of this long ago voyage by the early settlers of the state. The attraction is located in Wilmington and features among other things, a well equipped maritime museum.
Air Mobility Command Museum
Located on the Dover Air Force Base itself, the Air Mobility Command Museum offers a great look at the history of military aviation. This museum includes both standard museum exhibits as well as great examples of actual aircraft from days gone by.
This is a great stop for anyone interested in military history and aviation.
