Ohio, a mid-western state of the United States, is a cultural and geographical crossroad in North America. In 1984, the U.S. Census Bureau classified Ohio as part of the North Central Region of America. The region was renamed "Midwest" and split into two divisions. Ohio became part of the East North Central States division. It became the first state admitted to the union under Northwest Ordinance.
Ohio is a city rich in history. Visitors of Ohio consider the city as one of the most ideal places to explore. The Underground Railroad is one of the most visited spot. It has been an escape route of slaves in the past, hence also called The Passage to Freedom.
Ohio also keeps with the modern times with two major amusement parks - Cedar point and Kings Island. These parks contribute greatly to Ohio's tourism.

Cedar Point is located in Sandusky. It holds the record of having the most roller coasters, a total of 17! Four coaster rides are taller than 200 feet (61m). The Top Thrill Dragster coaster ride is the world's second tallest and second fastest. Cedar Point Park currently has 75 rides in all, holding another record of having the most rides. Apart from the many exciting rides are side attractions like a white sand beach, water parks, marinas, hotels and Challenge Park. No wonder this park is hailed the "Best Amusement Park in the World."
Kings Island is located in Mason City in Warren County, Ohio. The park is more than 700 acres big but only 364 acres is developed. This is the most visited seasonal theme park in America.
Vacation in Ohio is not complete without stopping by the Grand Lake of St. Mary's, the Ohio Caverns and Macochee Castle.
Ohio's festivals are well-celebrated with many activities. Try climbing the blarney stones or go fishing in the Salt Fork State Park in Cambridge. If you don't get to catch a fish, you at least get to catch the cool wind in the serene lake.

Hocking Hills State Park is the best place for hikers. The adventurous lot will enjoy the site of a ring neck snake, not common to other parks.
The Marblehead lighthouse is open to the public. Everyone can take a look and see the beauty of Ohio from inside.
Historians would love the McKinley Museum Canton. It's said to hold a complete recorded history of McKinley.
Experience feeding a hippopotamus at the Ohio Toledo Zoo. Watch these friendly hippos eat and play. Enjoy the site of other animals.
Berlin Lake has the best sunset view. Go with a loved one and feel the romance while watching the sunset.
